I’ve found it entertaining to observe what people hoard, and more tellingly, what they leave. There’s no shortage of food.
I saw a coronavirus/food hoarding joke that you may appreciate as a denizen of the Bay and maker of gluten free pizza, that went something like, “San Francisco seems to have suddenly become very gluten tolerant.”
I found that Trader Joe’s gluten free bagels are pretty good, by the way, since all the regular bagels were gone.

Interestingly, ours have not. Though that’s not necessarily by choice. We are using this time to emphasize frugality. Simpler smaller suppers, less sitting and binging on chips, trying to eke out more meals from less food. Not because we’re lacking, but more to limit trips to the grocery store.

My wife is trying hard too, but hungry kids are hungry kids. At least their snacks aren’t unhealthy, but I’ve now bought what should have been two weeks of food for each of the last two weeks .

I loathe San Francisco. It’s a miserable place to drive to, it’s a miserable place to drive in, it’s always swarming with Yuppies — who are smug — and the drivers are inconsiderate or downright rude. My wife’s brother lives over there, so we drive over a few times a year, but otherwise, and unless we have visitors who want to see it, we never go over there.
If they’re tolerant of gluten all of a sudden, it’s the only thing they’re tolerant of.

oh i’m sure. I just need to keep cheese and tortillas in the house for one of them and french toast sticks for the other and we’ll make it through.
We do a bite per year rule on trying new things. If you’re 7, you can try 7 bites and then decide if you want to continue. 3 year, old obviously only has to do 3 bites. It’s a decent policy to encourage trying things (dr. loved the idea).

That bite policy is pretty cool. Conversely, we had a rule when I was young that if you said “Yuck” at the dinner table you had to eat twice as much of what you didn’t like. I like your idea better.

For people without celiac disease, gluten intolerance often strengthens or weakens based on how many people are around to listen to explanations about gluten. With social distancing, that isn't happening, so they've been cured.

Apparently you have to feed them a wide variety of foods early, then they will eat later. Ours eats stuff my wife won’t eat and stuff I don’t like... He pounds olives (wife won’t touch them), avocados (wife won’t touch them), bananas (I won’t touch them), broccoli, any/all fruit, etc. The only things he won’t eat are mushrooms (unless they’re heavily processed, yet we both like them ) and he’s not particularly fond of meat (except kielbasa and high quality steak ; he likes to feed chicken and other meats to the dog ).

White Chocolate <> Chocolate
Peanut butter cups are to be eaten when chilled to around 39 degrees Fahrenheit.
Even when I was young, I thought Hershey’s Special Dark tasted special, though now that I take my chocolate more seriously, I’d say that Hershey’s mild chocolate is a better chocolate than their Special Dark, even though I prefer darker chocolate generally.

I have several pounds of chocolate here right now, zero percent of it is white chocolate.
I like peanut butter cups, but I like peanut butter better in different shapes. I have some peanut butter eggs and bunnies in my cabinet now (I told myself I’d wait til the day after Easter, but panic hoarding shopping got the best of me), which are pretty decent for cheap mass market American material.
I can deal with both milk and dark. Lately I’ve had some Milka (German brand) that is a mix of both, kind of a mild dark, not bad.

If you ever see Ritter Sport (German) chocolate for sale, the halbbitter is very good, not too dark. Also, they have one with mandeln , hazelnuts, which is very good. Both of these are good if you don’t mind chocolate a bit darker, but don’t like to eat dirt.
Also: check out www.pulpitandpen.org This site ha s probably just landed on my list of daily reading.

I think the Milka I have is close to that halbbitter. There’s a store in the area with a large selection of Euro chocolate. They also have Ritter, but it is somehow expensive there, while big Milka bars are cheap (like under $2). I like the Ritter with cornflakes mixed in, somehow, it works.
I skimmed over that site linked on another post. Not sure if my mind can take it, I feel like I am being screamed at by an insane person pointing out those who are even more insane to make themselves appear less insane.

It’s not just Christian perspectives. I am fine with religion, I just become a bit jaded when it is constantly pushed in one’s face, or used to justify repressive attitudes/policies (some of the material on that link is pretty rough). Definitely not a fan of American megachurch Christianity, but I understand the value of faith. I look at it more as something that should be personal, not squawked about to all who will listen like a stereotypical vegetarian or crossfitter.
